We generally split the engineering students into 3 categories. Here’re the categories:

  • Appearing for JEE – For getting admission in IITs in India (by clearing JEE Advanced)

  • Applying to DASA / CIWG – For getting admission in NITs and CFIs in India (via JEE Main)

  • State Engineering Colleges – For getting admission in State Engineering Colleges (These colleges also accept applications via JEE Rank)

1. NRIs Eligibility For Admission in IITs (JEE Main & Advanced)

It’s pretty clear that if you’re aiming to on-board any of the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), you have to appear for the JEE examination (Main & Advanced). JEE is the only option to get admission in IITs for NRI students or for anyone, there’s no alternative/quota to it.

JEE Eligibility for NRIs:

You’ve to be an Indian national in order to apply for the JEE. All NRIs, PIO, OCI and Foreign Nationals are eligible to appear for JEE Main exam.

About DASA Scheme:

DASA stands for Direct Admission of Students Abroad and is conducted by anyone of the NITs every year.

DASA scheme is for students looking to take admissions for any UG courses (undergraduate students) of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of India Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Foreign Nationals. This scheme is applicable to the Engineering/ Technology / Architecture stream only.

There are 50 colleges participating in the DASA scheme – 29 NITs, 4 IIITs, 3 SPAs, and 14 CFTIs. The participating colleges' list is as follows:
