So, here is the time when JEE MAIN 2017 has come and gone, now it is the time for 2018 JEE MAIN. There are many speculations that JEE MAIN 2018 proposed exam pattern will change but this has not been notified yet by the MHRD ministry. There is a huge possibility that these changes will take place and evidence is the announcement made by Finance Minister earlier this year. He said that a National Testing Service (NTS) will replace Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and now NTS will conduct JEE MAIN from 2018.
Key Highlights of JEE 2018 Propose Changes:
1. Government is also considering that there will be a single entrance test for admission in any engineering college whether it will be a public institution or private institution. The main purpose of these changes is to bring transparency to the admission procedure and checking the practice of some private institutions that extract heavy admission fee from students.
2. The difficulty level of JEE MAIN will also be upgraded to JEE ADVANCE or near it. Then seats will be allotted according to rank.
3. From 2018, JEE MAIN will be conducted in two papers i.e. Paper 1 for engineering courses (B. E. /B. Tech) and Paper 2 for architecture courses (B. Arch. /B. Planning.). Students can appear on either 1 of them or in both, according to their interested programs. Paper 1 will consist 90 objective type questions of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Paper 2 will consist 82 questions from Aptitude Test, Drawing Test and Mathematics.
4. Earlier in 2017 Aadhar Card was considered mandatory in JEE MAIN 2017 admission criteria but now there is a good news for students in J&K, Assam and Meghalaya and the news is that government is providing a provision for students of J&K, Assam and Meghalaya in which they will be required to enter their Ration Card No., Passport No., Bank Account No., or any other Government ID No. but this is provided only if they select the exam centre in these states only.
5. NTS may conduct JEE MAIN two times a year, now students don’t have to wait for an entire year to appear again. The test will be held online and in several regional languages.
6. Weightage to be given to board marks
7. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) to be a sort of exit test for B.Tech students to assess their knowledge.
So, majorly these changes are likely to be announced for JEE 2018 exam pattern. This scenario may also effect many NRI JEE aspirants from various middle eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait etc.
