JEE Advanced 2023 Question Paper and Answer Key

 
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is managed by the seven IITs with counsel from the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Only the top 2.4 lakh rank holders in JEE Main are allowed to appear for JEE Advanced Exam. Till 2017, 2.2 lakh students were allowed to sit for the JEE Advanced exam.
 
Candidates seeking admissions in bachelor’s programmes, integrated master’s programmes as well as dual degree programmes at the 19 IITs and Indian School of Mines (ISM) need to clear JEE Advanced.
 
The exam dates for JEE Advanced 2023 have been declared. The exam will be held on June 4, 2023 and IIT Kanpur will be organising institute of JEE Advanced.
 
 

JEE Advanced Eligibility

 
JEE Advanced exam eligibility ensures that candidates first clear the Paper-1 of JEE Main.
 
Candidates who want to take JEE Advanced exam have to satisfy certain criteria as fixed by JAB.The eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced Exam is as follows:
 
I – Performance in JEE Main
 
Candidates who fall among the top 2,24,000 rankers in JEE Main across all categories are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. Out of this number, the percentage of candidates eligible for admissions under different categories are as follows:
 
General category candidates (from the common merit list) – 50.5% 
OBC-NCL candidates – 27%
SC candidates – 15% 
ST candidates – 7.5%
Pwd candidates – Horizontal reservation of 5% in all the above categories
 
II – Age limit
 
Age limit for JEE Advanced Exam for General or OBC-NCL category candidates says that candidates will be allowed to apply for the JEE Advanced Exam if they are born on or after October 1, 1993. However, The age limit for SC, ST or PwD category candidates tells that such candidates should be born on or after October 1, 1988.
 
III – Number of attempts
 
The exam eligibility for JEE Advanced 2023 states that candidates would be able appear for this engineering entrance exam a maximum of two times in his/her lifetime. Here, candidates also require to ensure that they appear for this entrance exam in consecutive years. To explain this further, if a candidate wants to appear for JEE Advanced then this attempt should either be his/her first attempt and if not so, then this should be his/her second consecutive attempt.
 
IV – Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination
Candidates can appear for this engineering entrance exam if they have appeared for their Class XII or equivalent exam in 2017 or 2023. Here, candidates also need to ensure that this should be their first attempt in all the subjects they have opted in Class XII or equivalent.
 
The official website states, " However, if the examination Board of Class XII (or equivalent) declares the results for the academic year after June, then the candidates of that board who appeared for their class XII exam are also eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced), provided they meet the other eligibility criteria.  In case, the examination Board of Class XII announced the results for the academic year before June but the result of a aspirant was on hold for that particular period, then the aspirant will not be allowed to appear in JEE (Advanced)".
