CIWG Update – 22nd May 2017

Change in residential criteria for UG admissions 2017

As per order F. No. 35-9/2016-TS. III, Government of India, MHRD, Department of Higher Education dated 22nd May 2017, the residential criteria for UG admissions under DASA 2017 has been changed as follows:

“Prescribed admission criteria for Indian Nationals shall be at least two years of education, inclusive of 11th and 12th or equivalent (not beyond), in a foreign country during the last 8 years and must pass the qualifying examination from abroad.”
The above relaxation will be applicable for the academic year 2017-2018 only.

Based on the above circular, now students don't need a formal 5 years of education abroad to apply under DASA or CIWG.

  1. My son Jake Ajith Melookaran is studying in the XI standard now (going to be in XII by June, 2017). I would like to know some details about admissions under CIWG category.

    1. Will he be eligible to write SAT and get admissions to NITs under the CIWG category?

    2. If he appear for SAT, will he be eligible to write JEE-MAIN & Advanced?

    3. What are the formalities, registration fees and documentations required under CIWG category to register for SAT?

    4. Is it SAT-I or SAT-II he has to appear for?
