Which Year to Do the SAT Maths Test – Junior or Senior?

College Board typically recommends finishing at least 3 years of college-preparatory mathematics before doing the SAT. It’ll be good to finish the Trigonometry & Algebra topics as they have a larger portion of the syllabus.

If you’re aiming to do Mathematics Level 1 in the junior year, try to finish Algebra in 9^th grade and Geometry in 10^th grade and take the SAT in the junior year.

If you’re planning to take the SAT Maths Level 2 in the senior year, then it’ll be good to go with Algebra in 8^th grade, Geometry in 9^th grade, and again Algebra (advanced) in 10^th grade and Trigonometry in the 11^th grade. This option gives you one long year to prepare. Starting preparation in the sophomore year always benefits you and gives you a ton of time to practice & ace the SAT Maths with the best SAT score.

Do not forget the prominence of content freshness. Always try to take the SAT test at the very end of the sophomore year as the content will be fresh in your mind.

Best Test Date to Choose

When applying to colleges you first need to check the college application deadlines and plan accordingly. Many colleges recommend taking the SAT Subject Test by October (each year) or November (each year) if you’re interested to apply for Early Action or Early Decision to any college.

For the ones applying Early Action & Early Decision to the college, October 6 & November 3 are the best dates this year (2018).

If you’re applying under Regular Decision, then you should submit your SAT Subject Test scores by December (each year). In this case, October 6, November 3, and December 1 work for you well.
