Entrance Exams to Write to Get Admission in US colleges (Engg / Medical)

There are many eligibility or entrance tests available to students seeking admissions in US colleges. The type and scope of these tests, however, vary with the country where the candidate hails from. Also, it depends on the course, for example, Medicine or Engineering is for which admission is sought.

This is further dependent on the College, School or University as different institutions have laid down their own preferences and practices. The details are available in the websites of the respective universities.

Essentially there are subject wise tests and in many cases, there will be Language based entrance tests in most of the colleges in the USA. The preferred language proficiency accepted in the US is TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

Among these SAT has better acceptability among the premier educational institutes in the USA. Essentially the SAT measures the literacy and writing skills which are required for academic excellence in college. This problem-solving skill is usually taken by high school students aspiring for college admission in the US. The acceptance of the SAT will be seen from the reactive University websites.

You should start preparing for admission during the last quarter of each year.

Whereas the average GMAT accepted across universities is 547, the average GRE score is 155 for Verbal, 167 for Quantitative and 5.0 for Writing. 

The average LSAT score accepted in US across is 162. Kindly note that these are only an indicative and there could be wide variation in the actual figure every year. The Grade Point Average (GPA) which is the average of all grades received is another measure to judge your qualification. This is also called a "College Fit".
