What is the Mean SAT Essay Score?
Indian/NRI students as you received SAT score where you got the information about how you did on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) and Math as compared to students of previous years’ (who did the SAT).

What is an Mean SAT Essay Score?
The fact is, there are two graders score each SAT essay on a scale of 1-4 across three various dimensions:
- Reading
- Writing
- Analysis
In brief, it has concluded that your SAT score can vary between 2 and 8 for each area. There is no one single total of SAT essay score. The Indian students (NRI) should go with just Reading, Analysis, and Writing essay scores.
When thinking logically, it has cleared that the average SAT essay score in each domain should be 5 as its’ halfway between 2 and 8. Moreover, the average SAT essay score for candidates graduating high school in 2018 was 4 out of 8 for Analysis, 5 out of 8 for Reading, and 5 out of 8 for Writing.

The above graphs are clearing depicting a striking similarity between the distribution of Reading and Writing scores. As you noticed that many students score towards the middle on SAT Essay writing and reading scores, hence, it is safe to say that if you can score a 3 or even below, then your SAT essay score will be lower than average.
In a case, you can score a 5-6, then you are at an average while luckily if you score above a 7 or above, then your score is significantly higher than average.

Analysis scores are going towards the bottom of the scale. If you have thoroughly look at the above table, you will notice that the average Analysis score for 2018 was a 4 out of 8 but most of the candidates were able to fetch 2 out of 8.
Are you confused why students are unable to fetch a good score in Analysis while scoring appreciated on okay on Reading and Writing? The answer is this module is different from what candidates have had to perform on other standardized test essays.
The fact is, while you put your application for admission, the officers would not individual emphasis on your Sat essay scores. The admission officers will look at your overall SAT score first, then at Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math scores, and finally on your essay.
