List of documents required for US college admission

The following is the complete and accurate documents list of the admission process in the US colleges mandatory to be submitted to take the offer letter from the colleges:

  1. Personal information: This is the mandatory information to be added accurately wherein not only student basic information but their family and school information may be asked.
  2. High school transcript: Attested copies of mark sheets of class X (10th), XII (12th), Bachelor's degree (if graduated), and post-graduation degree (if applicable) are required as a mandatory part of US college admission.
  3. SOP (Statement of Purpose): Sop is a professional statement depicting your overall profile and your future goals. It is about 1000-1500 words wherein the background, academic, chosen course/college, course information, and future goals should be mentioned accurately and attractively. The students can check some samples available over the web before writing them down. Kindly take this statement as a serious concern as it may reject your application.
  4. Standardized test scores: Score reports of GRE/GMAT/IELTS/TOEFL are the basic standardized test scores wherein not all are mandatory to submit. Among IELTS and TOFEL, one is needed while among GMAT and GRE, these are required as per the course chosen. GRE is used to take admission in graduate programs while GMAT is mandated for business school admissions.
  5. Letters of recommendation: Two to three letters of recommendation from the manager or employer in case of employment. In the recommendation letters, the teachers or professors would not only comment on their academic abilities but also write about their personal qualities as well as other achievements.
  6. Resume / CV: A resume or CV is not mandatory to be uploaded in every college. It depends upon the college’s documentation requirements. But you have a ready resume as it will specify your work experience, awards, and extracurricular activities.
  7. Proof of financial documents (Bank statements): Submitting your bank statements is again a matter of seriousness. These statements can be of your parents or the student (in case he/she is working).

  1. Portfolio (required if student backgrounds relate to art and design courses or architecture programs).
  2. Two academic reference letters from professors (relate to the last educational institute).

After clubbing all the above documents, the next will be to pay the application fee which is again a mandatory part to apply. The application fee may vary from $50 to $90 per application.

The University of California- San Diego has the higher application fee i.e. $105. The good thing is that many US colleges are offering admissions without any application fee.
