Testprepkart brings you important information regarding some very helpful tips and strategies that can really help the students in the Middle-East countries to improve their performance in the SAT-II exam. It will be beneficial for the students if they incorporate these strategies in their preparation for the SAT-II examination. This will help them to give better results in the test.
1) Keep in mind the Structure of the Test.
The SAT Subject Tests are completely different from the tests a student usually takes during his or her academic career. When a student attempts any test, he or she attempts the questions in a sequential order. The student sometimes also adopts the approach of answering the difficult questions first and later attempts the easy questions.
But, a student cannot follow such approaches in the SAT Subject Test. A student can answer the questions in any order and the evaluator is only concerned with the answers and not the student’s approach.
1a) SAT Subject Tests are quite predictable.
The Format and the directions of the SAT Subject Test remains the same for all the Subject Tests. So, it will be beneficial for the students if they understand these directions in advance so they don’t have to waste their time reading them on the day of the Test.
SAT Questions are equally difficult so once the student starts working on different parts of the test, the questions become quite harder. This approach will give the student a better understanding about their standing in the test.
1b) No compulsory order to the questions on the SAT Subject Test.
SAT Subject Tests do not follow any compulsory order to answer the questions. The student can attempt those questions first which they think are easy for them to answer and attempt the difficult ones later. In this way, they will be able to save enough time to attempt the difficult questions later. Sometimes, when the troublesome questions are attempted again, they turn out to be much easier. Don’t spend lot of time on answering one difficult question as this will use up your time for other questions as well. Skip the difficult question, answer the easier ones first and come back to the unanswered questions later on.
1c) “Guessing Penalty” is an important strategy.
The SAT Subject Test has a “guessing penalty” which means that if the student answers a wrong question, he or she will get no penalty but if he or she answers the question right, you will get full marks. This means it is important that the student should eliminate one or more answer choices as definitely wrong because only this is the way where the student can actually convert the odd answer choices in his or her favour and guess the right answer.
1d) Be careful with the Answer Grid.
The Answer grid plays the most important role in the SAT Subject Test Exam. The students often get confused while marking the answers in the grid. If the student marks the wrong answer in the grid, he or she will lose the marks. So, it is important for the students to always circle the questions which they skip so that it becomes easy for them to relocate when they go back to them. In this way, they will not get confused with the question numbers.
Another important point is that the students should always circle the answers which they choose in the test booklet which will make it easier for them to mark the same answer in the grid too.
It is advised to the students to answer at least five questions in the test booklet first and then mark the same in the answer grid. It will be better if they don’t mark the grid after every question as by following this method, they will be able to save their time and concentration.
2) The right Approach to the SAT Test Questions.
Testprepkart helps the students appearing for SAT Subject Test to develop a right approach to deal with questions n the test systematically.
2a) First, read the questions very carefully.
Students are advised to read the questions very carefully before arriving at the answer choices. The examiners prepare the test in such a manner which can easily confuse the student. So, if the students will directly look at the answer choices, they are likely to get confused and can mark the wrong answer. So, it is very important to read the questions in the test thoroughly to eliminate such confusion.
2b) Eliminate at least one answer choice.
As we have already discussed that the students should not simply skip the questions that are troublesome for them. Instead, they should spend some time by trying to eliminate the wrong answer choice. In this way, they will be able to arrive at the best possible answer choice and rely on their impulse for the correct answer.
2c) Maintain the right speed.
The SAT Subject Test contains a lot number of questions which are required to be answered in the stipulated time limit. So, it is advised to the students to not spend much time on each question and keep moving to the next question at the optimum speed. Circle the difficult questions, answer the easy ones first and come back later to the difficult encircled questions.
