It makes easy to get admission for Indian/NRI students abroad. So, from an Indian/NRI student point of view such colleges are definitely a good bet as you can be sure of admission if at all you get a good SAT score and meet all their criteria.

Reasons why some schools have fixed admission criteria

Some schools offers guaranteed admission provided students meet specific SAT criteria. This is a very good practice as it ensures easy sorting of candidates from a huge pool of applicants. This also ensures consistent standards from one year to another.

Public colleges can accept huge number of students. So, when they have set standards, it precludes the chances of in- state students from looking elsewhere for admissions. Most of the public colleges receive funding from the state so they have an added incentive to accept in-state students.

For private schools admitting the students on basis of just test scores isn’t practical as they have limited resources at hand and cannot accept a big pool of students.

Also, private schools do not distinguish between in- state and out- state applicants. If they would offer guaranteed admissions it can lead to an extreme influx of applications which they will not be able to accommodate at all.
