What is Digital SAT Exam ?

The Digital SAT exam is a new computer-based version of the SAT test, developed by the College Board. It's set to launch in the United States in spring 2023 and internationally in spring 2024.

Shorter Test: The Digital SAT exam will be shorter than the current paper-and-pencil test. It will take about 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete, as opposed to the 3 hours for the traditional test.

No Separate Essay Section: Unlike the current SAT, the Digital SAT exam won't have a separate essay section. Instead, the writing part will be integrated into the reading section. This means you'll be asked to write short essays in response to reading passages.

What is the format of Digital SAT Exam ? 

The Digital SAT exam is divided into two main sections: Reading and Writing, and Math, and it's designed to be more efficient and adaptive. Here's a breakdown of its format:

Reading and Writing Section:
– Divided into two modules, each with four passages and 14 questions.
– Passages are from various academic subjects and text complexities.
– Questions assess reading comprehension, argument analysis, and writing skills.

Math Section:
– Also divided into two modules, each containing 22 questions.
– Covers a wide range of math topics, such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and data analysis.
– Some questions are multiple choice, while others require numerical answers.

Overall Format:
– Total time: 2 hours and 14 minutes.

How Long the Digital SAT Exam ?

The Digital SAT exam offers a more time-efficient testing experience compared to the traditional paper-and-pencil SAT. Here's a breakdown of the timing for each section:

Reading and Writing Section:
– Module 1: 32 minutes
– Module 2: 32 minutes

Math Section:
– Module 1: 35 minutes
– Module 2: 35 minutes

Additionally, students are given a 10-minute break between the Reading and Writing section and the Math section. This means the entire Digital SAT can be completed in 2 hours and 14 minutes, making it shorter than the 3-hour paper-and-pencil SAT.

This format allows students to pace themselves through the test while maintaining a manageable overall testing time.

How much does the SAT digital test cost?

Digital SAT Test Registration Fee is $60, plus a $43 regional fee.This means that the total cost for an Indian student to take the SAT is $113.

What is Digital SAT Cancellation Fees? 

  • Cancellation before the regular deadline: $25

  • Cancellation after the regular deadline: $35

To cancel your Digital SAT registration, you must log into your My SAT account and click on the "Cancel Registration" button. You will then be prompted to pay the cancellation fee.

 

How is Digital SAT Exam Scored?

The Digital SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800 for each section, for a total score of 400-1600. The scores for the Reading and Writing section and the Math section are added together to get the total score.

The Digital SAT uses adaptive testing, which means that the difficulty of the questions students get will be based on their performance on previous questions. This is designed to make the test more accurate and fair for all students.

To calculate a student's score, the College Board uses a process called equating. Equating takes into account the difficulty level of the test form and ensures that scores from different test forms are equivalent.

What is a Good Digital SAT score?

A good Digital SAT score is one that aligns with your college admission goals. On average, students score around 1000 on the Digital SAT, while scores above 1200 are considered strong. However, what's deemed "good" varies by the college. Researching admitted students' average SAT scores at your chosen colleges is key. The College Board's SAT Score Match tool provides tailored admission estimates. In general, 1200+ is competitive for most colleges, 1400+ for top colleges, and 1500+ is exceptional. Your target score should reflect your college aspirations, and it's essential to check each institution's specific requirements.

When should I take Digital SAT Exam?

Most students take Digital SAT in their junior year of high school and may retake it in the fall of their senior year if needed. It's essential to plan your test dates well in advance to meet college application deadlines. Digital SAT exam is offered on a national scale multiple times throughout the year, typically in the months of August, October, November, December, March, May, and June.

3. The tests will be conducted in schools or at test centers with an invigilator, and not at home.
