University offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. To be considered, foreign students must have results of the SAT or ACT examination along with the certificate of English language proficiency. Some Postgraduate Admissions may be required for GRE or GMAT results.

The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology International Admissions Criteria:

In Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, foreign applicants must meet the following admission criteria.

Admission Requirements for International Students:

The requirements for the students may vary depending on the country of residence. For the international students the document requirement is briefed below:

  • Certificates of official transcripts and degrees confirming academic credentials.
  • Identity document: Passport / Social Security card
  • Institution Grading Scheme information
  • 2-5 Postgraduate Admission References.
  • Public Exam Score Reports: SAT / ACT scores (or equivalence) for undergraduate GRE / GMAT admission for certain postgraduate admission picture and evidence of sufficient financial resources for visa application.

 

Some country-specific requirements are mentioned below:

  • Indian applicants are required to have an overall of 85% in 12 Grade.

  • Pakistani applicants must have a total of 935/1100 marks in HSSC.

  • Japanese applicants must have a grade of 4.5/5.0.

  • Applicants from Sri Lanka must have an average grade of B.

 

EnglishLanguage Requirements for International Students:

Students whose first language is not English must show expertise in the English language. The minimum requirements for foreign applicants for UG and PG are similar.

If the applicants have completed their previous English studies, then the above requirements are not necessary.

 

Visa process for international students:

1. The Letter of Offer will be given to University foreign students.
2. The Global Affairs Office (GAO) will forward the application for processing to the HKSAR Immigration Department.
3. Complete the application form and pay the fees for obtaining visas.
4. The documents that students are expected to submit when applying for a student visa or as follows: An application form A copy of the University's letter of offer of admission.
5. Photocopies of an example passport/identity card travel document.
6. Proof of funding from Economics.
7. Attend the interview.
8. When the visa is ready, GAO will directly give the applicant a student visa.
